Product Description
Soothes & engages as baby grows! Sometimes your little one likes being held over your shoulder. Sometimes on your knee. Other times, she wants to be cradled in your arms as you rock her side-to-side or back-and-forth. But for the times you need to put baby down, here's a swing that cradles and swings, soothes and entertains her just the way she likes it! It surrounds her in plush, cozy fabrics and a canopy that cocoons her. The soothing continues with eight tunes and a side-to-side cradle motion, a lot like the way you rock her in your arms. When your little lamb is ready for play, the swinging changes to a back-and-forth motion (because babies love variety) and she's engaged with nature sound tracks and a mobile featuring a mirror, floating clouds and little lambs to entertain her

Fisher Price Swing

Fisher Price Swing

By Danny Mitchell Ashton

Few things are more soothing to a fussy infant than gently swinging in a swing, but they rapidly outgrow the indoor wind-up swings that work so well to rock them when they're tiny. Fisher Price makes swings for toddlers that are just the right size for those who are too big for infant swings and too small for regular swing set or playground swings.

Recommended for ages 6 months to 36 months, the Fisher Price Swing has a snack tray that lifts up for easily putting a child into and taking it out of the swing. It also has a three point harness that keeps the child in place. For children on the younger end of the recommended age group, the swing reclines. It's made of tough and sturdy thick plastic.

It measures 14 x 14 x 22 inches (width x height x depth), and can hold a child weighing up to 45 lbs.

When choosing where to put a toddler swing, make sure you can put it high enough off the ground that your toddler cannot climb into it alone because of the danger of the swing tipping and causing her to fall out. When using the Fisher Price swing with infants who are not yet able to sit up, it is important to limit swinging to gentle swaying until his neck muscles strengthen sufficiently. This is true even with a swing that reclines for infants.

When setting up your Fisher Price swing, be sure that there is sufficient room around it so that the swing won't hit anything when it's in motion. Six feet of clearance in each direction is recommended. It's a big day when an infant or toddler "graduates" to using a toddler swing. Like her older siblings, she gets to play outside and enjoy the great feeling of swinging with dad or mom by her side.

Gentle Cradle Cap Treatment For Your Baby

Gentle Cradle Cap Treatment For Your Baby

By Daniel Bo

Cradle cap treatment is a remedy to be used mostly for babies and infants to treat cradle cap. The condition can be quite an ugly skin infection that can plague a newborn's scalp. It usually doesn't hurt them nor is it contagious. However, it can be quite unsightly and alarming to anybody who has never seen it before. The good news is that it is usually a temporary condition and most times will go away on its own.

An effective cradle cap treatment doesn't have to be complicated. Nor should it be. I completely and totally believe in natural remedies. Especially when it is a baby that is being treated for a scalp disorder, natural is the best choice even more so. If you want to get rid of your baby's scalp problem, I highly recommend only natural ingredients.

Because of the relatively harmless nature of this condition, cradle cap treatment should be kept at minimum. It should also consist of proper shampooing and gentle removal of the scales present on your baby's scalp. A very safe pre-cursor leading up to a treatment is to switch over to an all natural and organic shampoo. Doing this will eliminate any harmful chemicals found in some products from irritating or harming your infant's delicate skin.

While this condition mainly affects younger children, some older children struggle with it as well, while their mothers search frantically for the best treatment available. In the US, up to one fifth of all children of school age have cradle cap, along with about one in twelve of the young teenager population.

Here is a relatively safe cradle cap treatment you may want to employ. First, apply baby oil to the affected scalp areas ten to fifteen minutes before shampooing. This will help to loosen the scales and flakes, making them easier to remove.

You should only apply this cradle cap treatment ten to fifteen minutes before shampooing. Leaving the oil on for too long might result in a thick layer of build up that could clog pores and further irritate your baby's skin. We definitely do not want them to feel any un-necessary pain or dis-comfort. When shampooing, you may want to use a soft bristled tooth brush to assist in removing any loose patches. Remember to be gentle and use your own parental insight. It can sometimes be better to under do it instead of over doing it.

If your baby isn't responding well to the above cradle cap treatment, it may be time to visit the family doctor. In most cases this is not necessary. Though I am a parent myself and I understand what it is like to worry about your child. Especially when they are at that age when they can't talk yet. It would be so much more assuring if they could just tell you how they are feeling. So if you think it would be better to error on the side of caution and take them to a medical professional, then do so. Better to be safe than sorry and mis-diagnose the condition.

If you are going to utilize a cradle cap treatment, it is very important to first identify that it is in fact cradle cap that you will be treating. Cradle cap usually appears as an oily, yellow scaling of the upper layer of skin and a hard crusting on the baby's scalp. Commonly caused by a buildup of normal naturally secreted oils from the skin itself.

The condition generally affects the scalp, head, eyebrows, and areas behind the ears. Although it can be un-nerving and unsightly to observe, remember that it is a fairly normal, harmless and noncontagious condition. It can be treated with natural and gentle methods.

If it doesn't appear to be bothering your baby, cradle cap usually doesn't need to be treated. In most cases, it will go away on its own by age one. It can be itchy for the baby though. So it is really up to you what you want to do about it.

Although my site is more suited to teenagers and adults who suffer from dandruff and other skin disorders, I do have a book that can offer more information on choosing a cradle cap treatment To explore other cradle cap treatment options you should take a look.

History Of Baby Cribs

History Of Baby Cribs

By Ursula Ansbach

Baby cribs, being the child's first bed, have a most interesting history! The word "bed" initially means the place where a person sleeps - originally no more than a hollow in the ground. The first types of baby cribs were a small swinging or rocking bed known as a cradle. It has a long history and was typically one of the first pieces of furniture to be added to a new household.

Before the colonies were settled by Europeans, Native Americans cradled their babies in a multitude of different styles, almost as diverse as our modern baby cribs. There were bark cradles, skin cradles, lattice cradles, board cradles, basket cradles and many more. The style changed with the geography of the tribe and was influenced by the materials available for construction. Swaddling (wrapping the baby tightly in cloth or skins) was a favorite of many tribes since this was seen as a safety standard. Many Navajos still use a traditional board cradle that swaddles the baby to keep it safe and protected.

The earliest and most common type of cradle is the rocker, derived undoubtedly from a hollowed out half log to provide a secure resting place for baby. It was a simple step to move from the hollowed out log to a box mounted on transverse curved sections and a particular baby crib favorite with the early Colonists was characterized by sloping sides and a hooded end made from simple nailed pine boards.

Examples also exist of cribs that represent "great beds of state" for royal babies. These fancy cribs were richly carved and furnished with elaborate and costly hangings. Many cradles were designed so they could rock easily, with one mechanical invention claiming that the cradle would self rock for an hour and a half! Early cribs were made to be placed right next to the parent bed, since bedrooms are actually a later addition to architecture that came with the ability to heat the home more easily. It isn't known if there were any safety standards under consideration in those early days.

Once the baby was too large for the cradle it graduated to a trundle bed. The name is derived from the utility of this bed which was made to fit easily under the parent's bed and thus conserve space. Early homes were often one or two room cottages where space was a premium.

The baby crib came into existence as homes became larger, during the 1800's, and could accommodate their size. They were usually home-made and passed on from child to child, since families were rather large in those years. Baby cribs were also passed on through generations since they were constructed of solid, durable wood found locally. If you run across such a crib today you will marvel at its sturdiness. A recent trip to an antique store while looking for a crib for my new grandson bore this out. The crib was made of hardwood that had been softened by many decades of hands-that-rocked-the-cradle and gave no indication of ever wearing out.

The basic shape and design of the crib has not changed much since the 19th century although we have an ongoing improvement in design as well as an ever increasing demand of higher safety standards . In light of these present safety standards it became obvious that the lovely antique crib I found would better display a doll or some beautiful stuffed animals, than to become my grandson's first bed. There were safety issues that included slats too far apart and a design in the headboard which could prove dangerous. We urge parents to keep a close eye out for safety, both when purchasing a new crib and to maintain an existing crib. History is fun and interesting but our priority is to keep our babies safe.
